CHINESE-STYLE SLOW COOKER PORK RIBS

Updated: Jun 25, 2023

Cooking Time 3 hours 30 minutes - Serves 2 as a main or 4 as a side.

Warning: These ribs are sticky, finger-licking good, and oh-so-moreish. Simply put everything in the slow cooker and let it work its magic.

Ingredients

  • 2 x pork ribs racks, around 600kg each.

  • 2 tbsp of Chinese five spice.

  • 2 tbsp of hoisin sauce.

  • 2 tbsp of soy sauce.

  • 1 tbsp of garlic paste.

  • 1 tbsp of sesame oil.

  • 300g of sweet chilli sauce.

Garnish

  • Red chillies.

  • Spring Onions.

  • Sesame seeds.

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients into your slow cooker, season, and mix. Cut the ribs in half if necessary to fit. Put the lid on and cook on high for 3 hours.

  2. Once done, remove the ribs from the sauce. If your slow cooker is hob-safe, place it on high heat and reduce the sauce until it becomes thick and sticky. If not, transfer the sauce into a saucepan and reduce it there.

  3. Now, place the ribs on a tray and cover them with the sauce. Then, put them under a high grill for 5 minutes. Garnish with spring onions, chillies, and sesame seeds.
